1. How should I dress when visiting Mosaic?
There's no dress code at Mosaic. When you visit, you'll notice people in all types of clothes, just like out on the street - shorts and t-shirts, coats and ties, skirts or dresses, jeans and sneakers. We want to meet you, not the person you think we might want to meet. If you dress for the weather, you'll probably be comfortable inside.
2. Do have anything for my children?
Yes! We love kids at Mosaic! During the sermon, we have a separate Bible lesson just for kids, ages 4-10, aimed at their level and learning styles. Our volunteers love kids, and enjoy serving you and your children.
The volunteers have all passed background checks, and always work with at least one other partner. Parents are always welcome to join their kids for part or all of the lesson time.
3. What are Mosaic's services like?
We usually start with singing, which includes songs of several different styles, as well as times for prayer, communion, or reading from the Bible. Most Sundays we have an informal greeting time. Everyone says hi to one another - you won't be singled out at all, and are more than welcome to stay in your seat. After our time of singing and prayer, we listen to a message from the Bible shared by one of our pastors or leaders (you can check out our sermons here). Most weeks, our Missional Families gather during the week to discuss how we can live out the weekly message in our everyday contexts. We often conclude our time together with another song or prayer, and then take an offering and give announcements. There is absolutely no expectation for you to give if you aren't a member of the Mosaic family. Many people regularly give online, or by text, so you won't stick out at all if you don't put anything in the basket.
4. How long are your services on Sundays?
Services start at 10:30 am, and generally end around 12 pm. We'd love to have you stop in before the service starts and share some refreshments and conversation.
5. Where do you meet?
We meet at 760 Prospect Place in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, at P.S. 138. On Sunday mornings our sign will be out on the Park Place sidewalk. Enter at the side doors of the school from the Park Place side of the building; our room is the first one on your right. The closest subway stations are the 3 at Nostrand and Eastern Pkwy, the A/C at Nostrand and Fulton, and the 2/3/4/5 at Franklin and Eastern Pkwy.
