1. How should I dress when visiting Mosaic?
There's no dress code at Mosaic. When you visit, you'll notice people in all types of clothes, just like out on the street - shorts and t-shirts, coats and ties, skirts or dresses, jeans and sneakers. We want to meet you, not the person you think we might want to meet. If you dress for the weather, you'll probably be comfortable inside.
2. Do have anything for my children?
Yes! We love kids at Mosaic! We have a nursery area for children 3 and under, and during the sermon, we have a separate Bible lesson just for kids, ages 4-10, aimed at their level and learning styles. Our volunteers love kids, and enjoy serving you and your children.
The volunteers with both age groups all have passed background checks, and always work with at least one other partner. Parents are always welcome to join their kids for part or all of the lesson time.
3. What are Mosaic's services like?
We usually start with singing, which usually includes songs from several different styles, and will also include times of prayer or reading from the Bible. Most Sundays we have an informal greeting time. Everyone says hi to one another - you won't be singled out at all. After our time of singing and prayer, we listen to a message from the Bible shared by one of our pastors or leaders (you can check out our sermons here). Most weeks, our Missional Families gather during the week to discuss how we can live out the weekly message in our everyday contexts. We often conclude our time together with another song or prayer, and then take an offering and give announcements. There is absolutely no expectation for you to give if you aren't a member of the Mosaic family. Many people regularly give online, so you won't stick out at all if you don't put anything in the plate.
4. How long are your services on Sundays?
Services start at 4 pm, and generally end around 5:30 or 5:45 pm. We'd love to have you stop in before the service starts and share some refreshments and conversation.
5. Where do you meet?
We meet at 4pm at 761 Park Place in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, between Rogers and Nostrand Avenues. We are currently renting space - the building is bright red, and you'll spot our yellow welcome flag outside on the sidewalk. We're next to the community garden on the corner of Rogers and Park. The closest subway stations are the 3 at Nostrand and Eastern Pkwy, the A/C at Nostrand and Fulton, and the 2/3/4/5 at Franklin and Eastern Pkwy.
